Peace
by Allen Williams circa 2010
Illicit nectar runs through the vines
That sometimes taste so sweet
As flowers just exist to share a sign
And clouds above shed their wine
The days have come and gone
There will always be a song
That keeps my feet on the ground
But weeps for dreams never found
Illicit nectar runs through the vines
Tastes so sweet it stings at times
Dropping down upon the floor
Squeezing till it begs for more
The fragmented glass lies discarded
Broken dreams in pieces scattered
This it seems is one of those
Another dream lies in repose
Nectar runs through the vines
It shelters fear it weeps it whines
To quench the pain of your not here
To break the curse of no one near
Scattered lives beat to the time
Another song that found no rhyme
Another drink another lime
Another glass of nectars wine
Then drop the glass down to the floor
The prayers I pray they ask for more
To despise this life spent in solitude
Yet I embrace this silent solemn mood
The shards are painful beneath my feet
I walk the floor and thoughts repeat
To go back to that empty place
Where nectar even fills the flowers vase
The vines they grow they wilt so fast
They bend down to the broken glass
Where emptiness their shadows cast
My eyes will close in peace at last
