Walking on Air
by Allen Williams circa 1996
We talk on the phone and I am walking on air
as your voice warms my heart with it's hue
bringing depth to a simple conversation
At times when we speak it has substance
how vulnerable we both really are
At times we speak of nothing at all
but still we listen to the silence
with nothing to say
It is in these moments I cherish the most
for these moments are when I can feel your heartbeat
when I realize it's not the whispers in the night
that makes me want you
If only the silence could speak
and promise us hearts won't be broken
for it's the silence in which I confide
for the silence is all that I have
