Adaptive Ski Program, Breckenridge, Co.
I volunteered for one winter and worked with wonderful people.

Mono-skier who skis much better than myself

Mono-skier ripping up the snow

Family members help out as well

Taking a break

Happy to be on the mountain

Hanging out at the top of the mountain

Mono-sled skier

Crashed and burned

Taking off down the hill
The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) is a national leader in experiential education serving all people, while ensuring that the outdoors is accessible to those with special needs. The BOEC was established in Breckenridge, Colorado, in 1976 as a non-profit tax-exempt educational organization to provide outdoor experiences for people with disabilities and to train the instructors who work with special populations. Ultimately, the BOEC strives to accommodate people with disabilities while being inclusive and representative of a mainstream philosophy. We welcome people of all abilities from around the world to spectacular natural classrooms in the Rocky Mountains and beyond.
BOEC programs are supported through individual donations, grants and contributions from private foundations and corporations, special events and program fees. The Center strives to keep activities affordable and provides financial aid to ensure the participation of groups and programs in need.
"The BOEC is: companionship and compassion, pride and perseverance, self-earned successes and group-driven accomplishments. Tears from trying, and succeeding. Untapped courage. Comfortable laughter. Learned empathy and practiced patience. Acceptance. Belonging. Feeling safe and being independent. A change of scenery, a sense of renewal."
