Favorite Child

My Favorite Child and my only child is Chris who I adopted at twelve years old after meeting he and his mother in Santa Monica on a beach in Malibu one sunny Sunday back in June of 1983. He was a gifted, special child from the very beginning when I met him on the beach where he stamped his hand in the sand as he sang to me, Mockingbird.  Today he is living in California and manages the radiology department at a major hospital there.  To celebrate the holiday season of 2006 I created the video titled, Twelve Things I Remember.

2006 Christmas Video to My Son Chris

12 Things I Remember

I have learned that life moves by very quickly and as quickly as it arrives... it leaves.

To never take those I love for granted but have patience, compassion and understanding because things that are said or done can not be undone and can steal a dozen years without a glance.

I have learned that hurt should not manifest itself in anger for that is not the emotion that is truly felt.

I have learned to cherish the time spent with those I care about, for life isn't unending but changes as the breeze that passes and only then it is too late.

As Christmas 2006 passes, know that I love you and wish our lives had followed my plan but I realize in God's wisdom that it is the way it is supposed to be, for without it all... I wouldn't have learned a thing.

Chris Acting Goofy 1988

I paid Chris to place labels upon my business cards. Throughout the process he decided to display his personality and charm.

Chris' Lead as Mickey Mouse in Play 1981

Chris went to the same grade school I did as a child, Bethel Lutheran School. It was there that they created a Disney play for the holidays and gave Chris the honor of the lead role as Mickey Mouse.

Chris Rolling Stones Poster Christmas 1981

Our first Christmas together was 1981. Being a great fan of The Rolling Stones I thought I would place a Rolling Stones poster in his Christmas stocking. Upon finding it he said, "Daddy, Rolling Stones, Rolling Stones... I don't believe Santa likes The Rolling Stones".

Chris Billboard for Cigna HealthPlan 1989

Chris did a commercial for Asics Tiger, some printwork and this billboard which was displayed prominently throughout the San Fernando Valley for Cigna Healthplan. I thought it was so cool but he just shrugged his shoulders and wasn't impressed.

Chris' Saturday Night Live & Karaoke 1989

With two friends of his, they wrote and starred in their very own Saturday Night Live skit, followed by some Karaoke singing.

Chris & my Parents at Friends For Christmas 1989

This video prominently displayed my son who was very good with younger children, playing with Brian on Christmas day as well as my parents who shared in the occassion.

Chris' Group The Conservative Sushi 1991

Chris is still very talented to this day but back in 1991 he was in a band he formed, named The Conservative Sushi. They wrote their own music and played the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood before disbanding within a year or two. This particular video was filmned at the Granada High School talent contest.
